Cathodic protection is an important technical means to prevent metal corrosion, including sacrificial anode method and external current method. The external current method is to apply cathodic current from an external DC power source to the protected metal components, causing them to undergo cathodic polarization, thereby achieving the effect of reducing or completely suppressing metal corrosion. The function of the auxiliary anode is to provide a circuit for the current. Due to the occurrence of oxygen or chlorine evolution reactions at the anode, the corrosion resistance and stability of the auxiliary anode play an important role in the operation of the entire cathodic protection system.
